Channy and I decided to attend the Christmas pops this year on the 20th of December. What we didn’t know about this upcoming event were two things. This night would be the first snow storm in the winter of 2010 and Shaquille O Neal would be composing a song or two.
We sat down and the white collars were in attendance and throughout the whole evening everyone was wondering, when and where Shaq would come about. It was as if Santa got a knock down on this Holiday extravaganza, everyone was here to see Kazaam and we were stuck in the middle of it.
The orchestra began to play and play, when lo and behold from the back of the stage. This mammoth of a man, emerges with a suit that can fit 3 and shoes that can hold 5 gallons. Shaq! came out and marveled the crowd with his comedic personality and the fine composing of a Michael Jackson song. Which was probably the best song of the night. Channy agreed with a nod of approval and a salute to our fallen soldiers.
Upon Shaq finishing and exiting turned into the ending of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Everyone was thrilled and appreciative that this Basketball great came and marveled them for a night. All great things have to come to an end though, and he had to go back to his world and leave us “normies” with the lasting memory that he came, he composed, and Godamn it! did he conquer.
Now back to reality.
The most interesting part of the evening besides the annoyance of the chorus line acting out like 5th graders looking for santa, had to be the crowd below us. Most seemed like characters from the party scene in Great Gatsby, but most of these people grabbed a hold of the green light and haven’t looked back since. Congrats!
That was our night and I thank you for looking at this and have a good new year!
P.S. Shaq photos for sale!
